HOW TO APPLY FOR THE 2022 RESIDENCY 

RESIDENCY DATES: 1st - 30th AUGUST 2022

DEADLINE TO APPLY: 1st APRIL 2022

If you would like to be considered for the artist-in-residency award then please send the following on ONE PDF DOCUMENT by 6pm 01/04/2022 to info@markrothkomemorialtrust.org:

·       Short CV and a short statement about yourself and your practice

·       What you wish to achieve from the residency

·       Maximum 6 images of your work and website details where applicable

·       Full contact details, address, telephone, email

 

KEY DATES

·       Residency dates will be from 01/08/2022 to 30/08/2022. The residency dates are non-negotiable and applicants must be available to travel and stay in Daugavpils during this timeframe.

·       Selected artist(s) notified by: 06/05/2022 

 

SELECTION PROCESS

The successful candidate(s) will be selected by the Trustees of the Mark Rothko Memorial Trust: Professor Paul Huxley (Chair), Tim Marlow (Chief Executive and Director of the Design Museum) and Rebecca Salter (President of the Royal Academy of Arts) and the Trust’s Administrator and Advisor, Laura Culpan (Director, Artwise Curators).

 

WHO SHOULD APPLY

Professional artists, working in any medium, currently based in the UK, who wish to travel and are available on the given dates to stay at the Mark Rothko Art Centre in Daugavpils. The artist may wish to stay in Latvia for an extended timeframe, however please note all other accommodation and travel must be paid for by the artist directly. EXPECTATIONS AND POSSIBILITIES

The Trust would expect the awarded artist to make full use of the opportunity to travel, engage in a new culture, make new works and interact with the local creative community. In return the Trust requests only that the awarded artist sends a brief report on the outcome of their experience and provides the Trust with images that may be used on the Trust's website, this will be of benefit to future candidates.

The awarded sum of money of £4,500 will be paid to the artist by cheque at an agreed time before the residency takes place. The Trust will cover the cost of the studio and accommodation and the awardee will be responsible to organise and pay for their own travel arrangements, materials, stipend and all other associated costs. 

Please note that it is the responsibility of the awarded Artist to keep up to date and informed on the current entry requirements and COVID-19 travel restrictions for Latvia
